This is Kid Nate, I'm posting these on behalf of Josh Nason, the author.
Jeff Hougland used an all-around solid performance to defeated Donny Walker in a tight bantamweight battle to open up UFC 132 on Saturday in Las Vegas, NV.
Two judges scored the fight 29-28 while another had it 30-27. This writer scored it 30-27 for Hougland.
Hougland's best round was the second as his jab found a home under Walker's right eye. Hougland (10-4) nailed Walker with a left hook and got the fight to the ground where he sunk in a tight guillotine. Walker seemed close to tapping but was saved by the end of the round.
Hougland has won nine in a row. He had five straight finishes going into the fight. The loss snaps a seven-fight win streak for Walker (15-7).
Both men were making their promotional debuts. Josh Nason (@JoshNason) is a New England-based MMA journalist that contributes to Bloody Elbow, FIGHT! Magazine and Wrestling Observer/Figure 4 Online. He co-hosts the weekly MMA Show on New Hampshire ESPN Radio affiliate WGAM 900.
