MMA Weekly reported today that sources close to Bellator have confirmed a title bout between Bellator Featherweight Champ Joe Warren and FW Tournament winner Patricio Freire will take place at Bellator 47 on July 23rd.
The date if the event had previously been confirmed, but no venue or fights had been officially announced. As of today, Bellator has not yet confirmed the news of this fight (Freire vs. Warren at Bellator 47) on their website.
The fight will be a rematch of the first time the two fighters met at Bellator 23, on June 24th of last year. The fight ended with a somewhat controversial decision win by Warren. Since their initial match, neither fighter has lost, though there were many who felt like Warren may have lost his last fight vs. Marcos Galvao (Warren was awarded the decision).
Warren was ringside during Freire's last fight (vs. Daniel Straus) doing color commentary, and was vocal about his plan to "give Pitbull his second loss" when they fight next.
The venue for this event is still yet to be determined.
