"Work or Legit?" returns, and in this edition we take a look at the feud between Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera, who are the co-main event for UFC 127. Michael Bisping retains his title of "Most hated British MMA fighter" despite Paul Daley's sucker punch of Josh Koscheck, and Jorge Rivera is using this to his advantage. Rivera has released a slew of videos (backed by sponsor Ranger Up) taking comical jabs at Bisping, my personal favorite:
Props for creativity. Now, the question, is this a work, or legit? Plenty of times we've seen fighters talk up a firestorm before their fight, only to shake hands and claim they were just hyping the fight. Now, I'm not saying you can't show sportsmanship if you really dislike someone, but the "we just wanted to sell the fight" line is where I take issue. So, did Rivera give Bisping a ring a few months ago and tell him any sort of hype is fair game? Or, has Rivera blindsided Bisping, and honestly offended him? Check out their press conference stare down:
Silva/Belfort it is not, but it's worth noting that if the two were agreed to "sell the fight", it would make more sense for Rivera to offer some resistance while Bisping talked. Honestly, I'm disappointed with the stare down after so much smack talk from Rivera. So, what say you readers?
