After yesterday's "That was awesome" featured Shelton Benjamin, a common theme in the comments section was disappointment.
Disappointment that such an obviously talented wrestler was underutilized, underused, and now underemployed in Ring of Honor (ROH). Not that wrestling for the Philly promotion is bad but Benjamin has the skills to wrestle on the biggest stage in the business and isn't anymore.
Why?
Well, it just seemed like the creative team could never figure anything out for him. They had a storyline with some potential involving Benjamin's "mother" but it ended abruptly just as it was gaining some steam.
It's a shame that we can longer see him every Monday or Friday night but he's still thrilling audiences lucky enough to check out a ROH show. If you can't make it live, you can see their weekly TV show or their next internet pay-per-view (iPPV) Final Battle 2011 next month on December 23.
In the meantime, check this insane spot from the Money in the Bank (MitB) match from WrestleMania 24. Benjamin and MitB?
It's more of a match made in heaven than Savage and Elizabeth.
Carlito's reaction is pure gold. There's another talented guy that the WWE squandered. That seems to be a problem with the company these days.
If a wrestler is saddled with an awful gimmick or if the writing team simply can't think of one for them, they kind of languish until they are Future Endeavor'd.
Zack Ryder took the bull by the horns and actually got himself over in a move that will hopefully open up the eyes of those that are seemingly stuck in the lower mid-card.
And you know what? Heck, why not? Here are a couple more moments from "The Gold Standard."
So what say you, Cagesiders? How awesome was that?
