That was awesome! (clap clap clapclapclap): Mick Foley gets his WrestleMania moment

Mick Foley wanted a WrestleMania moment. Oh, he wanted one so bad.

He got his chance at WrestleMania 22 when he took on Edge in a Hardcore Match. The feud was set up simply enough. Foley was the special guest referee in a match between "The Rated R Superstar" and John Cena. When the hardcore legend made the three count for Cena, Edge lost his cool and attacked him.

The stage was set for what would be one of the last moments of truly hardcore wrestling in the WWE as they adapted their product to something more family friendly and PG soon after.

Throw in Lita -- who never looked hotter than when she was Edge's slutty little strumpet -- and a special one-night appearance by Joey Styles in the commentating booth and you had yourself all the ingredients for what would definitely be a memorable match.

And it was. The match itself was a great hardcore matched, presumably booked by Foley who knew the ins and outs of the style, but it was the ending that is burned into everyone's mind.

Pun intended!

Yeah, the spot took a little too long to set up and yeah, Edge's feet caught the rope as he flew through but to quote Styles, "OH MY GOD!" was that incredible.

Foley finally got his WrestleMania moment in what became the most memorable sequence in an event that featured the Rob Van Dam winning the Money in the Bank match, a Early Bird Special-loving Undertaker diving over the top rope and beyond a casket wide enough for Mark Henry, and Shawn Michaels brutalizing Vince McMahon in a No Holds Barred match.

So what say you, Cagesiders? How awesome was that?
