The world is a vampire.
At least it used to be for Billy Corgan. These days it seems to be a wrestling ring.
That's because the Smashing Pumpkins frontman is putting on the first event for his brand spankin' new Resistance Pro Wrestling (RPW) tonight in Chicago, IL. And it's a humdinger of a show.
That's because the inaugural event will host the the semi-finals of a four-man heavyweight title tournament involving former WWE Superstar Harry Smith, Kevin Steen, El Generico and The Sheik. RPW will also crown their women's champion while also getting the ball rolling on a tag team title tournament as well.
One match that I can't wait to see is Colt Cabana, Necro Butcher, and Petey Williams taking each other on in a three-way dance. All three men are entertaining in their own right, it'll be interesting to see how their styles merge.
It shouldn't be any surprise that Corgan has started his own wrestling promotion. The only surprise is why it's taken so long. He's a lifelong wrestling fan, shows up on-camera anytime he's at Raw, and has probably lost more money in the wash than most of us have ever had.
Check out this video he posted to help hype up tonight's debut show.
I have one question though: will Corgan force his talent to spray tan to achieve that classic wrestler look? Would seem hypocritical is all...
