Pic: John Cena spits on the mic while announcing The Rock's return on Raw

Last night (Oct. 24, 2011) on WWE Raw Supershow from Austin, Texas, Cena was told he could choose any tag team partner he wanted for a match against The Miz and R-Truth at Survivor Series.

After some careful deliberation -- a nice way to build towards the big reveal -- Cena chose his upcoming WrestleMania 28 opponent, The Rock.

When he announced "The Great One's" name, though, he did so with such ebullience that he inadvertently projected some spit that landed on the microphone in front of his lips.

And it remained connected between his lip and the mic for this glorious picture, suspended in time.

Better still was when the cameras quickly cut away to Miz and Truth, who were, at this point, on the entrance ramp. By the time the cameras cut back to Cena, he had pulled the microphone down to his side.

But the ever persistent spit remained on his lip.

Cena has his faults and we've certainly shared our many criticisms of him here on Cageside Seats. We also try to give him credit where it's due, as we did last night with his awesome delivery during his backstage segment with John Laurinaitis.

But this ... this moment is in a class by itself.

Video of the incident is after the jump. If you'd like to get right to the goods, skip to the 3:15 mark.
