Now this is a show a whole gang of fans can get behind.
WWE is continuing its roll out of shows for the its brand spankin' new Network that will debut next year, reportedly sometime around WrestleMania 28 in April.
On top of a retrospective documentary about WrestleMania, a Diva's show and a Legends based reality show, WWE is bringing the good with a series on the most successful time in pro wrestling, the Monday Night Wars.
From WWE.com:
WWE Network launches in 2012, but we're already taking names for our new slate of shows, including a controversial look back at the Monday Night War. Waged between WWE and WCW during the 90's, this battle for TV dominance unfolded live each week, giving rise to some of the most iconic Superstars and storylines of our time. And you get to relive it in one action-packed television season.
Wrestling fans who are currently between the age of 25 and 40 all surely have fond memories of the late 90s thanks to the biggest wrestling boom in history. It was, of course, driven by the massive popularity spread between WCW and WWE.
Truth be told, I usually watched the former and switched to the latter during commercials. Busted!
Names in consideration for the show include the following, which you can vote for by clicking here:
- Battleground: Raw vs. Nitro
- Battleground: The Monday Night Wars
- The Monday Night War
- WWE Raw vs. WCW Nitro
- Monday Night Warfare
Personally, I don't see any choice other than "The Monday Night War," seeing as that's what it's been known as for over a decade now. Still, share your thoughts on what you think the name should be and even what your favorite memory from the late 90s was when WCW and WWE were going at it on Monday nights.
