WWE Hell in a Cell 2011 takes place tonight, Oct. 2, 2011, in New Orleans, Louisiana. At a glance, the results should be fairly predictable, but upon second viewing, there's definitely some room to wiggle.
Let's get into predictions for the show.
John Cena vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio -- Word on the street is Del Rio will win the title back tonight just two weeks after he lost it by tapping to Cena's STF at Night of Champions. It makes sense to have the title on him when WWE embarks on its tour of Mexico and that was always the plan. I just wonder why they wouldn't just let him keep the strap throughout the past few weeks. I'm not sure who it helped to have him lose it at all. Maybe the ratings -- briefly -- but that's all. Shortsighted booking is a killer and it feels too much like that's what we're getting here. I also wonder how Punk is going to come out of this looking good ... and he really needs it. I'm thinking this is when Miz and R-Truth make their way out with a key to get into the Cell and we get another controversy about who gave them the key. Prediction: They take out Punk and Cena allowing Del Rio to win the title.
Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton -- After investing so much time and energy into his push for the past few weeks, it makes no sense at all, in any way, to have Henry drop the title back to Orton. I know, I know; it's only been two weeks that he's held it and how much has he really done? Well, reinvigorate Smackdown, for starters. I've never been as interested in watching the blue brand as I am now and that's almost exclusively because of how compelling Henry has been. His promos are the best they've ever been and while his in-ring work leaves something to be desired, he more than makes up for it everywhere else. Prediction: Henry wins after interference from Cody Rhodes.
Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix -- This just feels like the classic WWE case of a wrestler winning a title about two weeks after she should have already won it. The time to put the belt on Beth was at Night of Champions, which was in her hometown. Instead, they had her lose and chase and chase and chase Kelly until now, when they'll finally give her the win. Feels pointless. Like women's wrestling. Prediction: Who cares.
Sheamus vs. Christian -- I expect a great match between these two, as Christian has a style that's easy to adapt to whoever he's working with. Really, the question is whether or not to expect shenanigans, as Christian is a prominent member of the group that is supposed to go after Triple H on Raw tomorrow night. That certainly adds an X-factor to every match on this card. I'll say this one goes legit the whole way and the mega-push of a babyface Sheamus continues. Prediction: Sheamus goes over clean after Christian makes him look great.
Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara -- Opportunity knocks for both of these guys. Mistico, or the "real" Sin Cara, appears to be firmly entrenched as the guy who will ultimately get to keep his job no matter what happens. Hunico, or the "fake" Sin Cara, doesn't have as much room for error, so he'll need to bring his A game if he wants to stick around for longer than this match. The original plan was to have these two feud leading to a blowoff match in which one of them would be gone right after. I still expect that to happen. Prediction: Mistico wins a match wrought with botches.
