F4WOnline.com is reporting that among other changes not yet revealed publicly, WWE has added muscle relaxer Soma (generic name carisoprodol) to their banned substrances list with no therapeutic use exemptions. Somas have been a widely abused drug in wrestling for years and years (Louie "Spicolli" Mucciolo overdosed on them, for example) to the point that "Soma coma" became a widely used term in the business. While the FDA does not classify it as a controlled substance, some states do. There are plenty of non-addictive drugs that work as well or better for the indicated use, so that's presumably why it's not even being allowed with a prescription. This is a long-overdue move, and no, the timing doesn't seem to be a coincidence.
