Gertrude "Luna" Vachon dead at 48

Various people in the wrestling business (such as friend/indy promoter David Herro) have posted on Facebook and Twitter that Gertrude "Luna" Vachon, 48, has passed away.  She had lost all of her posessions in a fire two weeks ago.

From F4WOnline:

Luna Vachon, 48, the daughter of Butcher and niece of Mad Dog Vachon and a well-known wrestler in her own right, was found dead this morning at her mother's home. She was staying with her mother after her own house was burned down in a fire just recently. Those are the only details we have at the moment but we will update later this afternoon.

A second generation wrestler (daughter of Paul "Butcher" Vachon and niece of Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon and Vivian Vachon), she's best known for her runs in the WWF, ECW, and WCW during the '90s.  Like the late Sherri Martel, she was a talented wrestler who gained much of her stardom as a manage in the WWF, where she was memorably paired with Bam Bam Bigelow and Goldust.  At the end of her run with the company, she briefly managed then-husband David "Gangrel" Heath.  She had been married twice previously, to high school sweetheart Dan Hurd and wrestler Tom Nash, and was working as a tow truck driver.  She's survived by her father, her uncle, her children Joshua and (former Hell's Kitchen contestant) Van Hurd, and granddaughter (via Van) Lauren.

Slam Wrestling has an obituary as well as a long profile that had been published recently.
