Dave Meltzer reported on Sunday that The Undertaker was injured in his match with Rey Mysterio at the Smackdown TV tapings on May 25th, which he won to qualify for Smackdown's Fatal 4-Way World title main event at WWE's innovatively named Fatal 4-Way PPV on June 20th.  Undertaker suffered a broken orbital bone, a broken nose and a concussion after Rey landed full force on his face with a seated senton towards the end of the match.

The Smackdown spoilers for this Friday's show on Dave's website revealed that instead of having The Undertaker work the PPV with a protective mask like the last time he suffered a broken orbital bone in late 1995, they've decided to write him out of Smackdown's storylines until SummerSlam.  The show started with a funeral for The Undertaker with a teary eyed Kane eulogizing him, Teddy Long revealing that The Undertaker was found in a vegetative state and Kane vowing to track down the guilty culprit.  The show continued with Kane accusing CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger and Big Show of being the person who took Undertaker out and closed with Rey Mysterio winning the open spot in Smackdown's Fatal 4-Way PPV main event by winning a Battle Royal last eliminating Kane.  Ho hum, this seems to be setting up an obvious swerve where Kane is eventually revealed to have betrayed his brother again, which will inevitably lead to Kane putting over Taker in his big return match again.  To be fair, I suppose it is almost seven years since their WrestleMania XX match.
