Awesome Kong suspended by TNA

Jason Powell broke the news yesterday, confirmed by Dave Meltzer today, that Awesome Kong is officially under suspension by TNA.  This is the continuing fallout of the bizarre backstage fight where Kong assaulted Hulk Hogan's crony and Florida shock jock Bubba The Love Sponge for posting on Twitter "Fuck Haiti" so soon after the earthquake there.  Since then Kong has asked to be released from her contract, a request that wasn't granted, and refused to appear on TNA's recent tour of the UK which she was contractually obligated to do, resulting in the decision to suspend her.  Given that Kong is TNA's biggest female star, I expect that cooler heads will eventually prevail and she'll be talked into returning to the company.  There's also still the very slim possibility, given who is in charge, i.e. Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo, that this is some elaborate Brian Pillman-esque worked shoot where they go to extreme lengths to fool the online wrestling fans, which was my gut reaction when the news of the backstage fight broke out.
