Perhaps the only good thing to come out of the WWE's Invasion angle was Rob Van Dam.
RVD was popular with the fans as soon as he set foot in a WWE ring. His arrival in the WWE might be the closest we ever come to old territory days, when fans knew of a debuting wrestler's reputation in other companies by his coverage in the wrestling magazines of the time.
Of all the dream matches that could have occurred after Vince bought WCW, and ECW went out of business, the RVD - Jeff Hardy feud may have been the only one to have come close to what fans had imagined. Debuting on the July 9th, 2001 episode of RAW, RVD captured the Hardcore Title away from Hardy at the INVASION pay per view held on July 22nd, barely 2 weeks later. They swapped the title, with Hardy winning the championship, just a week before their Summerslam ladder match. Enjoy this fantastic spot filled match.
