Greatest Summerslam Matches: (#19) Kurt Angle vs HHH vs The Rock- SS2000

This is actually the last major wrestling show that I have attended live. Held in Raleigh, North Carolina at the RBC Center (home of the Carolina Hurricanes), this card was packed with matches that were HUGE at the time.

The undercard featured such matches as Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho in a best 2 out of 3 falls match that was stellar, The Hardy Boyz facing The Dudleyz and Edge and Christian in only the 2nd TLC match ever (hint: we'll discuss this later in more detail), and the Undertaker vs Kane in a match that had Kane being unmasked for the first time. However, those were just the buildup to the main event.

Leading up to the World Title match, Kurt Angle and HHH had been fighting weekly over Stephanie McMahon. While she was in HHH's corner, in and out of the ring, Angle had built a friendship with Steph that he had recently admitted he wanted to carry to the next level. The Rock was almost an afterthought in the buildup to this match, even though he was at the height of his popularity. Angle vs HHH was the match that everyone watching in the arena and at home wanted to see, and they didn't leave disappointed.
