As you can see above, on the May 22 edition of Raw, WWE launched the next best thing to a MYSTERY PARTNER angle... it’s close cousin and often precursor, the MYSTERY ATTACKER angle!
Enzo Amore, last seen getting drop kicked by Apollo Crews eight days ago, was discovered by his friend Big Cass and some officials. As the Smacktalker Skywalker would later eloquently explain, he “got jumped, bro”.
Now, our attention turns to who (no New Day jokes... they’re on SmackDown now, along with past Zo & Cass rivals like Rusev & Jinder Mahal) could have done such a thing...
- Crews and his new manager/mentor Titus O’Neil have to be suspects, but they seem to have moved on to Kalisto.
- The most likely culprit is often the person closest to the victim (or at least that’s what years of watching Law & Order reruns and The First 48 taught me), and Cass seems to be worked up before he even finds his little buddy - to say nothing of a possible “protests too much” response to General Manager Kurt Angle’s promise to find the perpetrator. WWE teased some issues between the Realest Guys before, and it’s not like they’ve been on a winning streak since. Maybe the seven footer’s had enough?
- Then there’s this...

Just because your jaw is wired shut doesn’t mean you can’t beat up a loud-mouthed cruiserweight. And there is some a lot of history there.
PWInsider reports The Revival were backstage in Grand Rapids, Michigan last night. When Dash Wilder’s broken jaw was revealed, reports said he’d be out until July... so this may be early to start a return angle. But that’s the beauty of a MYSTERY ATTACKER story - WWE can definitely drag a mid-card story out for five or six weeks. Look how long it took to get Golden Truth together!
Guess it’s pretty clear who I hope the assailants are... who do you think attacked Enzo Amore, Cagesiders?
