Last week's episode of Monday Night Raw in Dallas kicked off with Vince McMahon doing some bragging before his son, Shane McMahon, came out, tears in his eyes, to say goodbye to the WWE Universe. Somehow, he ended up running the show, which was his goal from the outset and what he was supposed to lose out on when he was defeated by Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
No, none of that makes sense.
What's also unclear is whether or not that was a one night arrangement. The WWE YouTube channel seems to indicate as much with the title of its upload on the segment, but this week's Raw preview at WWE.com has a section entitled "Will Shane McMahon bring us another 'money' Raw" with the following bit along with it:
Even though he failed to defeat The Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania, Shane McMahon was still granted a temporary reign as Raw's showrunner -- by Mr. McMahon, of all people. His first night at the helm of Monday night's hottest show brought us a new Intercontinental Champion, several new Superstar debuts and the return of the fan-favorite Cesaro.
It's clear that WWE's Prodigal Son didn't fall on his face as The Chairman had hoped, and it's equally clear that the WWE Universe likes the way Shane runs things. Will the risk-taking Shane-O-Mac have the opportunity to give us another crowd-pleasing edition of Raw? What might Shane's success last week mean for The Authority?
If nothing else, it would appear the rumors are true and The Authority angle has finally come to an end. We just don't know if they're going ahead with the Shane O'Mac Era or not.
Do you want them to?
