Considering the wild successes of The Shield and The Wyatt Family, two groups made of three members apiece, the idea of WWE introducing trios titles seems intriguing at the very least. After all, WWE has been booking six-man tag team matches incredibly strong throughout the past year or so.
Why not add some championship titles to the mix to make it even more interesting?
WWE.com took a look at the possibility in an article today. Here's an excerpt:
The potential for a Six-Man Tag Team division in WWE runs deep. It wouldn't just be a three-team race for the titles between The Shield, The Wyatts and whatever super-trio of singles Superstars felt like challenging them. All three members of 3MB can get in on the action, rather than forcing one member to sit out. Even the fun-loving Los Matadores & Sin Cara have shown they can hang with WWE's dominant trios, bringing the fight to The Shield and The Wyatt Family in recent weeks. Plus, the new titles could light a fire under struggling Superstars, creating new trios on a regular basis.
That being said, both Goldust and Seth Rollins, who were interviewed for the article, were negative on the idea. Goldust, in particular, outright said the titles wouldn't mean anything.
The reality is there are only four legitimate trios tag teams in WWE right now. Any other team would be thrown together for the sake of the newly created division as opposed to operating as an actual stable.
Don't expect trios titles anytime soon.
But at least the possibility is there thanks to the depth of the current roster.
