The last we heard on Naomi and her injured eye, which came by way of a brutal knee from Aksana during a match on Monday Night Raw on Feb. 3, 2014, she was diagnosed with a fractured eye socket. At the time, further tests were needed to see if she would require surgery.
Well, WWE.com posted an update on her condition and she will not need to go under the knife.
Dr. Amann passed on the good news today to WWE.com that Naomi has visited with a specialist and that it has been determined that surgery will not be required to her eye injury. This is because "neither the nerve nor the eye muscles are trapped in the fracture itself."
However, due to "the break that she has off the medial or inside wall of the orbital bone, [there is] communication between her sinus cavity and the back of the eye socket."
It's also noted that she will not be able to return to the ring "without restriction" for anywhere between 4-to-6 weeks. Although sad, this is an extremely positive update considering the alternatives. Sure, she can't fly on a plane for a while, but at least she's not going to have to undergo surgery to correct her issues.
For whatever it's worth, Aksana has been doing jobs ever since this incident, not that that's unusual for her.
We continue to wish Naomi all the best in her recovery.
