Daniel Bryan's babyface turn on Monday Night Raw this past week was incredibly well received by fans. His heel turn was a misguided move that suffered from seriously bad timing, what with the mainstream attention garnered by a halftime "YES" chant at a Michigan State college basketball game, but WWE made it right sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately, Bryan suffered a concussion in the process.
That fact has been confirmed by WWE to multiple media outlets. However, WWE itself has yet to report on as much, either on its website or through any of its various social media spots. Meanwhile, Bryan Alvarez is reporting in the latest Figure Four Weekly Newsletter (subscription required) that the word is his concussion is "pretty serious" and he couldn't remember anything that happened in the cage match with The Usos and the fallout with Bray Wyatt.
Alvarez also tells a scary story that Bryan, while up on the cage, completely went out of it as Raw was going off the air.
There was apparently a plan in place for Bryan to work a match against Bray to blow off their feud at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Jan. 26, 2014, in Pittsburgh, but that's now off and there's no telling when he'll be coming back. There are still big plans for him at WrestleMania 30 but for now, he's out.
With that being the case, WWE electing not to report on his injury is a curious thing. With the recent push for concussion awareness, WWE.com has been diligent in bringing word of as much when other wrestlers get hurt, like Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Fandango, and others.
So why not Bryan?
For now, all we can do is wonder and stay tuned for any updates.
If they come.
