WWE Battleground main event match booked (SPOILERS)

The main event match for the upcoming WWE "Battleground" pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Oct. 6, 2013, in Buffalo, New York, has been revealed.

For those of you who were holding out hope that the upcoming WWE Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Oct. 6, 2013, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York, would feature a War Games match, this puts a big damper on that.

It's still possible, of course, but it would be far less interesting without the major players taking part. Those major players, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan have now been confirmed for a rematch in the main event of the show with the vacant WWE championship on the line.

The bout was announced on the episode of Main Event set to air later tonight on Ion Television that was taped last night in Cincinnati (get spoilers here).

On top of that, it was announced at the same taping for the episode of Friday Night SmackDown (full spoilers here) set to air later this week that Alberto Del Rio would once again defend his world heavyweight championship against Rob Van Dam.

So the top two matches are set. You interested?

The updated Battleground match card:

- Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE championship)
- Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam (World heavyweight championship)
