Total Divas, the reality television show on the E! channel focusing on the lives of seven WWE Divas both in and out of the ring, has mostly been a ratings success. The first six episodes of the show never dipped below an average of 1.34 million viewers and the numbers were good enough for the network to order another six episodes to be aired in November as an extension of this first season.
All has not been rosy the past two weeks, however.
Ratings for last week's show dipped to 1.09 million viewers, which just so happened to coincide with the end of a great lead-in via first run episodes of the still wildly popular Keeping Up With The Kardashians program. It got even worse this past Sunday when Total Divas was without that lead-in and had competition both internally, from Night of Champions, and externally, from Sunday Night Football on NBC.
Despite it being the mid-season finale featuring Tyson Kidd and Natalya's wedding, the show did its lowest number to date averaging just 1.04 million viewers.
Here's how the entire first (half) of this season has looked:
Episode one: 1.34 million
Episode two: 1.53 million
Episode three: 1.67 million
Episode four: 1.34 million
Episode five: 1.46 million
Episode six: 1.52 million
Episode seven: 1.09 million
Episode eight: 1.04 million
The lesson here? The show can be successful, it just needs a strong lead-in.
