Just yesterday, we passed along an interview Daniel Bryan gave in which he refuted the widely accepted belief among smark fans that John Cena, the current WWE champion, is not a great wrestler. His argument, in short, is that for a guy who supposedly can't wrestle, he sure has had a lot of great matches.
Hard to argue with that.
But let's get another opinion, one that comes from the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin during a spot with Afterbuzz TV:
"Cena, everybody knows I love Cena, but he needs someone to bring about 70-percent of their match, you know? He's a guy that can have a great match with anybody but he needs someone who can bring it out of him. Daniel Bryan, Shawn Michaels, you know some of the guys that he's really had his greatest matches with were very, very solid on the other end of that ring."
It should be noted that he's not necessarily disagreeing with Bryan here and, really, Bryan likely took the safer stance by simply saying Cena has had plenty of good matches throughout his career so it's probably not fair to say he's not a great wrestler.
Austin, of course, comes right out and says what many fans already think: Cena's good, but he needs the right dance partner to make him great.
Anyone care to dispute that?
