We knew it would be a particularly brutal stipulation and this past week's episode of Monday Night Raw gave it away: When Mark Henry takes on Sheamus at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., May 19, 2013, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, he'll do so in a Strap match.
From the WWE.com preview:
The much-anticipated brawl between Sheamus and Mark Henry scheduled for Extreme Rules on May 19 just became more perilous: WWE.com has confirmed the two superheavyweights will collide in a Strap Match at WWE's annual hardcore holiday.
The addition of a leather strap to the ceremonies only adds fuel to the fire of what is already one of WWE's most intense rivalries. The trouble began just after WrestleMania, when Henry unleashed a vicious pair of backstage assaults on Sheamus during both Raw and SmackDown. Sheamus would strike back with an onslaught of his own, before mimicking Henry - using his fallen adversary's own catchphrase against him as he proclaimed with a smile, "That's what I do."
Make no mistake, this is the HOSS FIGHT of the evening and it's entirely possible it could steal the show, especially considering the rest of the line up.
Speaking of which, here's the updated match card:
- Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H in a steel cage match
- John Cena vs. Ryback in a last man standing match
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger in a ladder match
- Sheamus vs. Mark Henry in a strap match
