The latest episode of WWE's YouTube Series, "Behind the Match," takes a jump into the old way back machine instead of having a superstar break down a current match as has been the case for the first few episodes. This time, Kofi Kingston gives us an inside look into one of the best matches of his career, in his own words, back from Survivor Series 2009.
In it, Kingston is the captain of one team against Randy Orton, whom he was feuding with at the time, and his team. The video picks up in the final minutes, with Kingston taking out his good friend CM Punk before surprising Orton with a Trouble in Paradise to get the pin on him to pick up the victory and stand tall as the sole survivor.
What's interesting here is that this was the same feud that saw Kingston pushed to the main event scene only to anger Orton during a match on Monday Night Raw thanks to a (barely) botched RKO. That led to his getting knocked back down the card, or at least those were the rumors floating around at the time.
In fairness, Orton did jump up shouting "STUPID" at Kingston after hitting the RKO and Kofi did slide right down the card and hasn't ever really sniffed the main event scene since then, including reports at the time that he was passed up as a Money in the Bank contract winner.
Still, this was a big moment for him as you can see in the video.
