Ed Webster
With the news all but confirmed that Undertaker will return for WrestleMania 29 to take on CM Punk, the two need a storyline to get them there. That's where you come in, Cagesiders. Time to fantasy book!
The word is out now that Undertaker is about at house shows, like the SmackDown branded live event he returned at in Waco, Texas, last weekend, that "The Deadman" will be making his official return to WWE television soon enough, likely at next Monday night's "Old School" episode of Raw.
And he's coming back for a feud with CM Punk.
That's the word, at least, and reports indicate the WWE creative brain trust is scrambling to come up with a coherent storyline for the two that will lead to a match at WrestleMania 29 on Sun., April 7, 2013, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Which gives us the chance to fantasy book this into the ground.
Indeed, everyone has their own ideas on how WWE should play the storyline between these two and one in particular from Cagesider "mboss" jumped out at me in a recent thread:
"... the set up is Punk complaining how he set the record for longest world title reign in the modern era (400+ days), that there's nothing more impressive than that monumental feat, and yet he's not even on the card for WM. What's it going to take for him to get respect. Undertaker comes out and says, your 400+ day title reign is impressive, but it's got nothing on the WM streak. Why don't you try to end that if you're the best in the world?"
That's a fairly simple but to the point way to handle it and gives both guys a legitimately good reason to be in the match. Sure, WWE could just throw them together and tell us to shut up and like it but let's give some credit and expect that a coherent storyline will be put in place.
What will they come up with?
What we really want to here, though, is what you would come up with. Let's get your best fantasy booking suggestions in the comments section below and we'll shout you out in a future article.
