The Spanish announce table finally fought back.
The fine folks at SB Nation, who covered last night's (Sun., Jan. 27, 2013) Royal Rumble event at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona, made the GIF you've all been wanting to see on an endless loop: The Rock and CM Punk collapsing the Spanish announcing desk during their WWE championship match:
There was initial fear that Rock may have suffered an injury from this but thankfully both he and Punk managed to escape any real bodily harm. They did not, however, escape the mental anguish created by the fact that one of the biggest planned spots in the match was a disaster that went about as bad as it could.
That's the drawback to having 275-pounds of muscle on your body while trying to pick up another grown man who has over 200 pounds of his own. Those tables are made weaker so they can do spots like this but there's a fine line.
The best part? This isn't the first time this has happened to Rock. I can think of at least two other instances in his wrestling past that he attempted the Rock Bottom through an announce desk and had it fail because the table couldn't support the weight.
At least he's persistent, right?
