It's official. CM Punk will not be working his schedule match against Ryback at the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Dec. 16, 2012, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The news comes from the SmackDown tapings tonight where WWE revealed that he is out of the show and Ryback will now team up with Daniel Bryan and Kane to take on The Shield in a six-man tag match.

While many will undoubtedly be unhappy with this announcement, it was the right thing to do. Protecting Punk's health is more important than letting him work a dangerous match against an opponent who may not have been able to protect him.

So there you have it, Cagesiders. Punk is out, The Shield is in. Just the way it was drawn up. Or something.

Here's the updated TLC line-up:

- Big Show vs. Sheamus
- John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler
- Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett
- Ryback and Team Hell No vs. The Shield
