WWE SS Preview: CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Ryback

WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Ryback vs. John Cena

The odds are stacked against WWE Champion CM Punk in a big way tonight at Survivor Series. Will he be able to defeat John Cena or Ryback tonight in a triple-threat match?

The road to Survivor Series

John Cena went after CM Punk's WWE Championship at Night of Champions. The two went back and forth, only for the bout to end in a draw. Cena hit a German suplex from the top rope on Punk to seemingly pick up the win. However, Cena did not bridge properly and his shoulders stayed on the mat. Therefore, the title stayed with Punk.

In the weeks following, Cena had bone spurs removed from his elbow, leaving his status at Hell in a Cell up in the air. Cena was ultimately unable to compete.

Enter Ryback, who was given the shot at Punk in the cell. Ryback took advantage of it and had Punk up for the Shell Shocked, but referee Brad Maddox went rogue and low-blowed the monster. He helped Punk hook the leg and proceeded with a fast count.

Ryback dealt with Maddox this week on Raw, sending him off in an ambulance. Meanwhile, CM Punk took on John Cena in the main event. Punk tried to escape the match, but he was met with Ryback coming down the ramp to greet him. John Cena pulled him back in the ring and was able to pin Punk to the mat. However, after the match, Cena and Ryback were locked in a staredown, leading to a tug-of-war over the WWE title. Punk sat on the apron and looked distraught as the two behemoths hungered for his belt.

While Ryback may need to deal with the distractions of a potential Maddox return, John Cena also has the weight of his alleged affair with former Raw GM AJ Lee to carry. Vickie Guerrero has lead the witch hunt in recent weeks and could have something cooked up here.

What's at stake?

For Punk, he has been sitting on a year as champion. The belt acts as his validation for his claim of being "best in the world." It also ensures him his place in history. While not having the physique of the stereotypical wrestling champion, Punk's belt serves as evidence of his greatness. Without it, it could be damaging, taking a big hit on his ego.

Ryback's animal tendencies have made him somewhat of an unstoppable force. To maintain that aura, a win here would be necessary. While he is still a terror for any wrestler to meet up with, that invincibility would become more a myth if he has trouble taking home a victory tonight.

John Cena has been out of the championship picture for quite a while in terms of actually holding on to the belt. Despite him always being the golden goose of the WWE, it is hard to take him terribly seriously with the real McCoy around his waist. If Cena truly is the best that the WWE touts him to be, a win here is necessary to silence the critics.

Will CM Punk be able to continue his reign of dominance in the WWE? Can Ryback or John Cena find a way to defeat the underhanded tactics that Punk might have up his sleeve? You can tune into Survivor Series tonight to see how it all unfolds.

WWE SS Preview: Big Show vs. Sheamus

World Heavyweight Championship: Big Show (c) vs. Sheamus

Big Show's brute force will go up against Sheamus' strength and will tonight at Survivor Series. Who will be able to carry the WWE World Heavyweight Championship out of Indianapolis, Indiana tonight?

The road to Survivor Series

Big Show was slated to meet then-champion Sheamus at Hell in a Cell. The two exchanged heated words and scuffles prior to the event. While Sheamus seemed ready to take on the challenge, Big Show came in with plain hatred and wanted to assert his physical dominance to take home the belt.

At Hell in a Cell, the two men went to war, exchanging heavy blows in what turned out to be one of the best matches that night. Big Show ended up being too much for Sheamus to handle, kicking out of a Brogue Kick to land a KO Punch and leave with the title around his waist.

Since then, the two have been going at it non-stop. Sheamus and William Regal were attacked at a pub by Big Show, prompting them to tag up against Big Show and Wade Barrett on a Super SmackDown. Show and Barrett took home the victory.

However, to get under Sheamus' skin, Big Show wanted to show Sheamus what he had in store for him at Survivor Series on Raw earlier this week. He KO'd William Regal backstage to get his point across.

On SmackDown, business began to pick up, as Sheamus waited for Big Show in the parking lot. Show didn't show, so Sheamus took to the ring to call Big Show out. Big Show again echoed the sentiment he shared for weeks, saying it isn't worth it to waste his time on Sheamus until he has to. He then told Sheamus that he should thank him for not laying a beating on him, which Sheamus wanted to do personally. SmackDown GM Booker T was not having this and ejected Sheamus from the building, stating earlier that there would be repercussions if things got out of hand.

After defeating The Great Khali, Show was looking to get on his bus. Unfortunately, Sheamus was in the bus and the two had a good brawl throughout the parking lot. Sheamus got bodyslammed on the windshield of a car, but fought back up to hit a running axhandle to Show from the car roof. Show then had his head slammed into the windshield and Sheamus pounded him with strikes, with officials finally separating the two.

What's at stake?

Big Show has cemented himself as a monster after the embarrassment of having to please fans. His ironclad contract has given him a new lease on life and he has made the most of it, wreaking havoc whenever he sees fit. The title around his shoulder helps prove what a force he is, while also being a big accomplishment in his career.

For Sheamus, he needs to win that belt back. Sheamus talks a big game about loving to fight and the belt he used to have gave him a huge target on his back, giving him more fights to take. Without it, he isn't on the red hot streak he used to be, proving to be a bit flawed. A win here will get him back to his peak and erase the loss to Big Show completely.

Will Sheamus be able to take back his title or will Big Show's strength and size prove to be too much for the Irishman? Be sure to watch Survivor Series tonight to find out.

WWE SS Preview: Team Ziggler vs. Team Foley

Team Ziggler vs. Team Foley

In tradition of the storied history of Survivor Series, there will be an elimination match between Team Ziggler and Team Foley. Dolph Ziggler leads Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, and Rhodes Scholars against Mick Foley's stable of The Miz, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, and Team Hell No.

The road to Survivor Series

The concept was originally Team Punk vs. Team Foley, as Foley and Punk challenged each other the night after Hell in a Cell. The best laid plans sometimes change, however, as Vince McMahon set up CM Punk vs. Ryback vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship.

In lieu of the new team captain vacancy, Dolph Ziggler took the reigns to his team. However, after butting heads with The Miz, Miz soon left the team for greener pastures.

Earlier this week on Raw, The Miz pleaded Mick Foley to make him eligible for the WWE Universe's Twitter poll. Foley was reluctant, but allowed it. Miz defeated Santino Marella and Zack Ryder in the poll to become the newest member of Team Foley.

Then, on Main Event, Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow took on Kane and Daniel Bryan. Rhodes went up on a back bodydrop from Kane and came down on his head and shoulder. Rhodes suffered a separated shoulder and a concussion, leaving him up in the air for tonight's show.

Friday's SmackDown was a boiling point for the teams, as they fought each other, as well as internally. Arguing partners The Miz and Randy Orton teamed up to defeat another team that was butting heads, Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. Orton was poised to hit his RKO, but Miz tagged himself in for a Skull-Crushing Finale win to take the victory. Orton didn't like this and RKO'd his partner in the middle of the ring.

Later in the night, during Kane's match with Wade Barrett, Team Ziggler came out to attack Kane. This prompted Mick Foley to send in the troops, who mopped the floor with Team Ziggler, but not without some struggle. All members came in...except Miz, who walked out after the scuffle was over to exchange death glares with Randy Orton.

What's at stake?

Bragging rights and pride.

Most members of each team are engaged in feuds with someone on the other side, while some teammates are in heated rivalries with each other. Rhodes Scholars have been fighting WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No for the belts for the better part of a month or two. Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio have fought for the title of "Apex Predator" over the past couple of weeks.

Within the teams, Alberto Del Rio has animosity with Dolph Ziggler, thinking he should be captain. Additionally, The Miz lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Kofi Kingston and the two have been locked in a rivalry ever since.

Which team will reign supreme in the traditional elimination match at Survivor Series? Tune in tonight to find out which team etches their name in the history books tonight!

WWE SS Preview: Antonio Cesaro vs. R-Truth

United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. R-Truth

The reigning United States Champion Antonio Cesaro puts his belt on the line against the challenger R-Truth.

The road to Survivor Series

Antonio Cesaro burst into WWE with a vengeance on April 20, picking up a series of impressive victories. He quickly climbed up the ranks of WWE, winning the United States Championship in the SummerSlam Pre-Show against Santino Marella in a short four months after his debut. Since then he has held onto the title in a dominating fashion. There seems to be few WWE Superstars on the roster that can match the "Swiss Sensation's" pure strength and athletic talent.

R-Truth has been wondering the singles scene since he and Kofi Kingston lost the Tag Team Championship to Hell No. The dreadlocked duo had an amicable split on Oct. 8, deciding that it was time for each to go his separate way. Their friendship was still strong, though, as Truth rushed to Kofi's aid after Cesaro and The Miz attacked the Intercontinental Champion on the Oct. 29 edition of Monday Night Raw. This act of kindness led to Cesaro and Truth exchanging barbs over Twitter and Tout, and finally to a one-on-one match with the United States Championship on the line.

What's at stake?

Cesaro has been imposing his will against any and all challengers to his title. A victory tonight will help solidify his reign, while a loss would be a huge setback for the Swiss superstar. Fans may start to wonder if he was given too much, too fast. Perhaps he was simply not able to handle the pressure that comes with holding the United States Championship?

A win for R-Truth will not only nab him the strap, but it will also give him a boost to his pride. Truth's former partner Kofi is the reigning Intercontinental Champion. It must be nagging on Truth's honor that his friend is holding a title while Truth is left with nothing around his waist. If Kofi can suceede in singles competition, what does that say about Truth's contribution to the tag team?

Can Truth prove his doubters wrong by going up against the fearsome Cesaro and pulling out a win? Or will Cesaro be too strong, too quick, simply too much for Truth to handle?

Watch WWE Survivor Series tonight to find out who will be leaving Indianapolis, Indiana with the United States Title around his waist.

WWE SS Preview: Eve vs. Kaitlyn

Divas Championship: Eve Torres (c) vs. Kaitlyn

In a battle between Eve Torres, the established vet, and Kaitlyn, the up-and-coming star, one only Diva will be able to leave Survivor Series with the Divas Championship around her waist.

The road to Survivor Series

Kaitlyn defeated Eve Torres in a Battle Royal on the Aug. 20 edition of Monday Night Raw, to become the #1 Contender for Layla's Divas Championship at Night of Champions. Eve, however, was not ready to go quietly into the night. An "unknown assailant" attacked Kaitlyn backstage, forcing the NXT star out of the match. Eve was quick to insert herself into Kaitlyn's spot and defeated Layla to become the new Divas Champion.

Although Eve would win the title, she had also won the locker room's suspicion. Everyone was quick to blame Eve as the mastermind behind Kaitlyn's attack. Eve, to her credit, was able to deflect blame and has so far skirted away from any hard evidence against her. With so much controversy surrounding the match, though, SmackDown General Manager Booker T decided something must be done. He set up a Triple Threat match featuring all three women at Hell in a Cell. Eve was able to retain her title by pinning Layla.

Kaitlyn would get the better of Layla in a #1 Contenders match on Nov. 12 edition of Raw, earning the right to face Eve at Survivor Series.

What's at stake?

For Eve, this is a chance to extend her championship reign and prove that winning the title was no fluke. With Beth Phoenix out of WWE, the Divas division is quickly running out of challengers. A win tonight and Eve will all but guarantee her dominance in the division of the fairer sex.

Kaitlyn is a rising star in WWE. It is shocking to see the young talent rise to the top this quickly, but it cannot be denied that she has earned her opportunities. A win tonight would not only catapult her to the top of the division, but she would be able to exact revenge against the conniving Eve.

With all the talent she has, it looks like Kaitlyn will become Divas Champion sooner or later; the question remains, though, is will that moment come tonight against the beautiful and cunning Eve Torres? Or will Eve prove too much for the rookie to handle?

The only way to know is to turn into Survivor Series tonight!

WWE SS Preview: 3MB vs. International Airstrike

3MB vs. International Airstrike

3MB (Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal, and Drew McIntyre) face off against International Airstrike (Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel) on the free Survivor Series Pre-Show streaming LIVE on WWE.com, Facebook, and YouTube.

The road to Survivor Series

While Slater, Mahal, and McIntyre may seem like the unlikeliest of pairings, they have proven to be quite the force in WWE.

Health Slater faced off against Brodus Clay on the Sept. 21 episode of SmackDown. Just when it looked like "The One Man Band" was about to eat the pinfall, though, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre rushed in to make the save. All three proceeded to lay "The Funkasaurus" out and established a new super group in WWE.

While the trio have gone through a plethora of names in their short time together, one thing has been made clear; these men are tired of being overshadowed. Whether it is through individual skills or sheer strength in numbers, 3MB is not a group to be taken lightly. It is always up in the air of which two will be wrestling in the squared circle in any match. That is simply one of the group's strengths.

How do you prepare for your opponent when you don't know who you will be facing?

That is a question both Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel will be asking themselves as they get ready for tonight.

Kidd and Gabriel, unofficially known as International Airstrike, have been a tag team since late March. The duo is full of energy and excitement, although they have been found wanting in terms of in ring success. The team was unsuccessful in capturing the Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 28, lost the #1 Contenders match at No Way Out, and was bounced in the first round of the #1 Contenders tournament on the Oct. 3 edition of Main Event.

Tonight the pair looks to change their luck.

What's at stake?

This match is a huge opportunity for both groups to move up in the revitalized tag team division. With Rhodes Scholars failing twice to capture the gold, there is room at the top of the division for anyone hungry enough. A win here would move either group into prime position to challenge for the Tag Team Championship; a loss would move the team to the back of the line.

Can 3MB prove that they are serious contenders in the tag team division? Or will International Airstrike finally break their losing ways and pick up a big win?

Find out tonight during WWE Survivor Series Pre-Show!
