WWE SmackDown returns to SyFy this coming Friday night (Mar. 21, 2014) from Houston, Texas, but the show was taped, as usual, on Tuesday night. That means full spoilers are readily available if you're the impatient type who doesn't want to wait a couple days for the payoff.
Unwrap that present early:
- Kane promo starts the show saying Daniel Bryan had the beat down from Triple H on Raw coming to him. He played the same card as his boss, blaming it on the fans. He even broke out a letter, comically addressed from WWE saying everyone needs to respect The Authority.
- Fernando def. Fandango in a match mostly played up for comedy with Summer Rae wearing a red dress and El Torito out there chasing her because of it. You know, because he's a tiny bull.
- Dolph Ziggler def. Damien Sandow in a short match. Not a squash exactly, but Ziggler, dare I say it, is gaining some real momentum now.
- The Shield vs. Real Americans vs. Rybaxel vs. 3MB went to a no contest when it broke down into chaos. Late in the match, Kane came down and attacked Roman Reigns and that's when everything went to hell and the referee called an end to the match without declaring a winner. This was supposed to be a number one contender match to the tag team titles, mind you. The brawl continued and suddenly the New Age Outlaws appeared to assist Kane in beating down Reigns. Suddenly, the tide turned and all the heel teams beat down the freshly turned babyface Shield trio ending the segment. It's getting really interesting with how they're booking this now.
- MizTV with Big Show led to the announcement that Miz will be in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Show was acknowledged as being the favorite, then Miz brought out all the current announced participants and they had an impromptu battle royal that was won by, you guessed it, Show.
- Alberto Del Rio def. Big E in a very short non-title match. That's an interesting decision and raises questions on where Big E stands in the pecking order right now. He's the Intercontinental champion and he's doing jobs just a couple weeks out from WrestleMania to a guy who may be leaving when his contract comes up who just got done doing jobs for Batista.
- Backstage comedy skit with Santino Marella and EMMA.
- Bella Twins def. Natalya & Summer Rae in a Divas match you probably don't care about. The live crowd didn't, as this was the point when they broke out in a brief CM Punk chant. It wasn't all that enthusiastic and died quickly, though.
- In a backstage segment, Kane meets with all the heel teams who assisted him in beating down The Shield earlier and Rybaxel and the Real Americans are rewarded title shots while 3MB are all entered in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. The New Age Outlaws are apparently Kane's new muscle and it wasn't mentioned when they'll be getting their rematch. It also was not specified when the other two teams will get their title shots.
- LANA promo with Alexander Rusev. He's coming soon.
- John Cena def. Luke Harper in a very short main event match where he avoided the clutches of the evil Bray to celebrate his victory on the stage near the entrance.
- Undertaker again appeared in the dark segment, pretty much doing the same thing he did with Cena at Raw on Monday.
That's the show, Cagesiders. Your thoughts?
