WWE SmackDown returns to SyFy this coming Friday night (Dec. 20, 2013) from San Antonio, Texas, but the show was taped just last night (Dec. 18) thanks to the holidays throwing the schedule off a bit. Still, full spoilers are readily available if you're the impatient type who doesn't want to wait for the payoff.
Unwrap that present early:
- Randy Orton opens the show with a promo on how unfair it was that he was forced into a match with Daniel Bryan on Raw this past Monday. This brings out Bryan alongside Cena with the basic message being Orton couldn't win fair but that's fine because Cena will win the WWE world heavyweight title and then another match with Bryan will happen. The Shield make an appearance, as does CM Punk, and that leads Vickie Guerrero to make a six-man tag for the main event: The Shield vs. Punk, Bryan, & Cena. Giddy up for that one, folks.
- Big E. Langston def. Jack Swagger because of course he would.
- Brie Bella used a small package (!!!!) to defeat Tamina Snuka before an angle with AJ Lee post-match.
- Sin Cara def. Drew McIntyre in a typical Cara match.
- Sweet T def. Brodus Clay, so Tons of Funk is officially broken up. What a sad turn of events, right? Er, no. Who know. Who cares? Xavier Woods, R-Truth, Cameron and Naomi all came to the defense of Sweet T both during and after the match.
- The Wyatt Family def. Rhodes Bros in a non-title tag team match. Daniel Bryan eventually ran in to make the save when the beatdown continued post-match. This led to an impromptu six-man, which saw the babyfaces go over.
- Damien Sandow def. The Miz before cutting a promo as The Grinch for next week's Christmas themed Raw.
- Fandango def. Kofi Kingston because reasons.
- The Wyatt Family attacked Bryan in the backstage area before the main event, so he was taken out of the match. Cena and Punk would go on to defeat The Shield by disqualification after the referee called for the bell due to everything breaking down in the ring all at once. Both Cena and Punk were taken out before Big E. Langston came in to make the save and run off the heels.
That's the show, Cagesiders. Your thoughts?
