As promised, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg came “face-to-face” in a WWE ring for the first time since WrestleMania XX tonight (Nov. 14) on Raw.
The two men were separated by a Mick Foley-mandated wall of security, and it seemed that would be the set-up for the latest “Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is...” promo from Paul Heyman. But Goldberg interrupted Lesnar’s advocate several times to a nice pop.
WWE’s mission here was to make the 49 year old Goldberg look like a threat to man who they’ve booked as nearly indestructible for the past several years (and who just won a heavyweight MMA fight this Summer). To that end, they painted the WCW legend as the person who could play mind games that got under Heyman’s skin.
Then, when Paul insulted Goldberg’s family one too many times, he took out Foley’s “wall”.

If there was any doubt who the heel is supposed to be, it was cleared up when Brock denied us the brawl we wanted, instead choosing to walk away from a fight with the snarling Goldberg.
Personally, I thought it was a pretty good segment. WWE did what they needed to do, and the crowd was for it (and reacted the way Vince wanted them too).
All things considered, not sure what else we could have hoped for.
What did you think, Cagesiders?
