After taking a week off to get married and go on his honeymoon, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan returned home to the horrible news that his father had passed away. Despite that, he insisted on working this week's episode of Monday Night Raw in Baltimore.
On that show, an emotional Bryan was decimated by Kane in the opening segment. It was such a thorough beating -- complete with three Tombstones (on the mat, the steps, and an announce table) -- that it was clear he was being written off television.
Sure enough, it was revealed later that he wouldn't be working the week of shows, including SmackDown and the weekend house show run. In kayfabe, he suffered a "stinger".
However, WWE.com provided an injury update and the report states the following:
"As of the last examination, [Bryan] did have some residual weakness in his arms, however, we expect this to clear up relatively quickly," Dr. Amann said. "Once he regains his full strength, he will be fully cleared for participation."
Bryan is currently resting at home, but has said he plans on competing next week on Raw.
That doesn't mean it's 100-percent certain Bryan will work Raw next week -- card subject to change, remember -- but he worked the show the same day he found out about his father's passing, so there's reason to believe he'll be performing.
We greatly appreciate the passion and dedication to his craft. We also hope Bryan is well and working on his own time, and continue to wish him all the best in this difficult time.
