CM Punk retained his WWE championship by defeating Ryback in a tables, ladders, and chairs match, setting up his next title defense at Royal Rumble in the main event against The Rock, thanks to assistance from The Shield.

Speaking of Rock, he returned at the end of the show to square off with Punk after an epic promo from "The Second City Savior." His response? The usual pandering mixed in with increasingly immature catchphrases.

John Cena and Dolph Ziggler even managed to open the show with a pay-per-view quality match, won by Cena of course. Ziggler did announce he will be entering the Royal Rumble match, though.
