We're less than one week away from the Royal Rumble and The Rock vs. CM Punk for the WWE championship and "The Great One" is now injured thanks to that damn Shield of Justice. Or, you know, that's what he says.
Bad news, folks: The Rock is injured just days away from the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Jan. 27, 2013, at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and his WWE championship match against CM Punk.
Or, you know, that's what he's saying on his Twitter account.
The Shield ran in and attacked Rock after his promo on Punk on Monday Night Raw last night in San Jose leading to the picture you see above with "The Great One" bleeding out of his mouth. It was actually fairly well done and served its purpose of creating some doubt that Rocky would keep his promise and win the belt at the PPV.
Although Vince McMahon kind of shit on that by later stipulating that if The Shield interferes in the match between the two, Punk will be stripped of the title. That still leaves the door open for other shenanigans but it seemed an odd move if the purpose of this was to create doubt over the "Brahma Bull's" seemingly obvious victory.
Then again, both men are advertised for the SmackDown taping tonight.
Either way, the match is almost here and it's almost time to make your picks for it. Think Rock makes good on his word and wins the WWE championship for the first time in over a decade? Or will Punk retain and lose it to him at a later date?
