There's no time to breath in the world of professional wrestling, as we have barely even closed the door on the last one -- WrestleMania 29 last night (Sun., April 7, 2013) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey -- before it's on to the next one -- Extreme Rules on May 19 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Above is the official video promo for the event.
Formerly known as Backlash, this show kicks off the new start of the WWE season, so to speak. Now that John Cena is WWE champion, the promotion has to find someone for him to feud with. It's possible The Rock will still be that guy, as he's been advertised for the show, but seems unlikely.
Brock Lesnar has also been advertised but he may not even appear on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw, so it remains to be seen what plans there are for him. CM Punk has been heavily rumored to be taking time off, though he's advertised for a few house shows throughout the rest of this month. Chris Jericho is advertised for Raw tonight but he's bailing to tour with Fozzy here soon.
There's also the rumor that Christian will return as a babyface with a hot new storyline to bring him back to.
Big Show snapped on Randy Orton and Sheamus last night after losing to The Shield, so it's possible he's going to be feuding with one or both of them.
That's without mentioning ongoing programs like Ryback vs. Mark Henry.
All that to say, there's plenty of uncertainty surrounding this event right now. But that's what Raw is for, and we'll get to see what direction the company is headed tonight.
