As we reported earlier today, TNA had been running a storyline on social media where Ethan Carter III had obtained an injunction against Matt Hardy that prevented him from appearing on Impact due to the unfair means that he had used to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Bound For Glory last Sunday night.
There have been a series of further updates on Twitter all day from the parties involved (TNA, EC3, Matt Hardy and Dixie Carter), which led to the shocking announcement that Matt Hardy had reluctantly decided to vacate the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, just two days after he had won the prestigious title.
We are taking a break from our meetings. This @EthanCarterTNA injunction has handcuffed this company. I want to fight it.

Just heard from the TNA legal department concerning EC3's injunction against me. The first court date is months away. This isn't good news.

According to TNA's website, "TNA officials have promised to make a statement tomorrow about the future of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship." So this storyline will continue!
My guess would be that TNA will announce a tournament for the vacant title based on matches they've already taped, but haven't shown on television yet.
