James Storm may finally be changing his character

Sorry about our damn luck!

James Storm is a beer swilling "Cowboy" from the south who speaks loudly and carries an even bigger stick. That's the character he's been working for some time now, at least, dating back all the way to his America's Most Wanted tag team with Chris Harris.

Well enough is enough and it's time for a change.

When speaking with Ring Rust Radio, Storm revealed plans to switch things up in 2014:

"Well, you know, I don't want to show my hand now but I definitely have a few things cooking for 2014. Maybe change up my character because I've been the beer drinking cowboy for 4,5 or 6 years in TNA so I think it's time to freshen it up a little bit and hopefully the fans will take to it and if they don't, oh well. I always look at pleasing me first because at the end of the day I'm the person I have to look at in the mirror."

Storm was at his hottest in late 2011 when he won the heavyweight title. His split from Bobby Roode should have been a story to carry TNA all the way through 2012 and the company largely dropped the ball on it. There was a memorable segment or two with a couple solid matches but Roode went over big the whole way and Storm slowly faded back into the tag team scene, most recently teaming with Gunner.

Now he's poised to get back out on his own and there's no better way to do that than by keeping his character up to date with a fresh coat of paint.

Excited to see what he's got in mind?
