TNA Impact results and live blog for May 23: AJ Styles joins Aces and 8s

TNA returns to Spike TV tonight (May 23, 2013) with its latest episode of "Impact", live from Tampa, Florida. Tonight's show features AJ Styles apparently joining Aces and 8s, Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson, and much, much more.

TNA Impact comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (May 23, 2013) from Tampa, Florida, featuring AJ Styles finally turning on the good guys and revealing he has aligned himself with the bad guys in Aces and 8s. That's what we're supposed to believe, anyway.

Also set for tonight's show is Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson, James Storm selecting a tag team partner for Slammiversary (which seems pointless considering he's too hurt to wrestle), Velvet Sky vs. Mickie James for the Knockouts championship, the continuation of the Gut Check tournament, and the return of Suicide.

It all goes down tonight starting at 8 p.m. ET on Spike TV, so remember to check back right here to follow along with the live blog as it all goes down.

Geno here.

So the live blog became more of an open thread. Sorry, folks, but life happens. We'll be back on the grind next week!

Some quick results and notes:

- Hulk Hogan did his usual deal where he put himself over, though the show was held in Tampa, his hometown, and had it out with both Sting and Brooke. Both tried to take responsibility for messing up the company by trusting and getting tricked by Bully Ray. He came out with Aces and 8s and said everything is his fault, actually, and he's still in love with Brooke and always will be. Later, they did a backstage segment with Brooke demanding to know what he meant and Bully reiterating he loves her still.

- Suicide def. Joey Ryan and Petey Williams in an X-Division match with Kenny King on commentary, making a successful return to the company. He'll be in the Slammiversary title match now.

- Magnus def. Wes Briscoe in a nothing match after Magnus returned to fend off Aces and 8s from taking out the Gut Check guys competing to get into the Bound for Glory Series.

- There will be a new TNA Hall of Famer announced at Slammiversary.

- Mr. Anderson def. Kurt Angle in a solid match.

- Shark Boy, Robbie E, and a returning Gunner all vied for the honor of being chosen as James Storm's partner for Slammiversary. Ultimately, Gunner got the honor. He looks like a homeless guy.

- Mickie James won the Knockouts title from Velvet Sky after a heel turn.

- AJ Styles did not, in fact, join Aces and 8s, instead siding with the good guys. Of course.
