TNA Women's Knockout Championship: Velvety Sky (c) vs Gail Kim
Velvet Sky defends her Knockout Championship against rival Gail Kim.
The Road to Lockdown
At Genesis, Gail Kim put in a Herculean performance in a five person gauntlet match to determine the number one contender to the TNA Women's Knockout Championship. As the first person in the gauntlet, Kim took out all the other challengers except for Velvet Sky due to referee ineptitude.
Due to the failure of the ref at Genesis, the number one contender was determined with a match between Velvet Sky and Gail Kim on the January 17th edition of Impact. Sky would emerge victorious from the match and used her title shot on the following week's Impact. Unfortunately for Sky, she would fail to win the title from Tara.
Sky would get redemption on the Feb. 21st edition of Impact. A four way elimination match was made for the TNA Women's Knockout Championship. With Sky and Kim as the last two remaining, Sky was able to pick up the victory and her second reign as Knockout Champion.
Kim has the momentum heading into Lockdown as she just recently up a pin on Velvet Sky in a inter gender tag match on the March 7th edition of Impact.
What's at Stake?
Gail Kim is arguably the greatest knockout in the history of TNA. Reclaiming the TNA Women's Knockout Championship (a title she was the first one to hold) would be a great addition to her legacy. Meanwhile, a successful defense for Velvet Sky would help prove to the world that she is more than just a beautiful person.
Will Kim reclaim her spot as the top Knockout in TNA? Or will Velvet Sky make a statement about her legitimacy? Find out tomorrow on Lockdown.
