After dedicating an entire episode of Impact Wrestling to a series of matches involving eight members of the roster trying to impress General Manager Hulk Hogan enough to be granted a title shot, "The Hulkster" ended up giving the shot to someone who was injured and not involved in any of those matches.
None other than his storyline son-in-law, Bully Ray.
Indeed, Hogan made it official on the episode of Impact that aired tonight (Feb. 21) from the United Kingdom, booking Bully vs. Jeff Hardy for the heavyweight championship in a steel cage match as the main event of the Lockdown pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., March 10, 2013, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
What's interesting is this comes not long after Hogan made comments publicly that he doesn't think Hardy should be the champion of the promotion and if it was up to him, Bobby Roode would hold the title. I'm not sure why that would be but it's going to add another layer to the upcoming match between Hardy and Ray.
To think, Bully Ray might be a world heavyweight champion in under a month.
Other matches announced for Lockdown include Team Aces and 8s taking on Team TNA, though members for each squad have yet to be made official, and Kurt Angle vs. Wes Briscoe.
