Revival Pro Wrestling Press Release with WNR 2-15-12 Card

The following statement has been issued from the office of the commissioner:

Revivalist, Last night, everything we thought we knew in RPW changed. The monster, Abernathy, has set us on a course that has not only been unavoidable but it has also derailed most of our near-future plans.

First of all, on behalf of the board of directors and this federation, we apologize. Our decisions have brought us to where we stand at this point and we are to blame for opening RPW's doors to this demented psycho.

RPW wrestlers, referees, staff members and fans at shows, home and around the world who have enjoyed RPW's current direction, we take full responsibility for this unstable man and none of us want to see our efforts and progress fall in the hands of a man who admittedly, only wants to create pain and end the careers of everyone here in the RPW forever.

Natalya and the curse of talent in a WWE Diva

Backstage-beauties-natalya-wwe-divas-5398316-427-390_medium

For pro wrestling fans, there is a notorious fallacy that Vince McMahon is partial towards "bodybuilders" instead of the leaner, quicker, more athletic wrestler. People seem to forget the consistent time that wrestlers like Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton have spent on top. And rest assured, even if Rey is pushing 200-pounds these days and his knees are pleading for mercy, that extra 50-pounds he is carrying is not Lex Luger's or Davey Boy Smith's 50-pounds.

While fans are quick to contrive theories that often prove untrue like this one, I have made note of a trend that is slowly beginning to infest itself back into the WWE's storylines and onto your television every Monday and Friday night.

The curse of being a legitimate talent in the ring could hurt you if you are a WWE Diva.

E-Wrestling for Cagesiders: Wednesday Night Revival (Feb. 8, 2012)

Revivalprologo_medium

After an abrupt departure by the visionary of RPW, the revival lives on!!!! As promised, Dannie and I have teamed up as new Executive Producers on this wonderful show and we are kicking it into overdrive. The End of the World is coming and the hype could not be getting hotter, could it!? Last night's show was epic and featured some great in ring action as well as some stunning turns of events. After the jump, you can read it in all it's glory.

We thoroughly hope you enjoy this show and your feedback is what drives us to keep doing it every week so please take a second to give us a few thoughts.

Those on the mailing get this and all shows in pdf format, and they look way better. The formatting of the pinfalls especially is a lot more dramatic!

Revival Pro Wrestling is an e-wrestling fed for Cagesiders that pits your created characters against one another in a quest for glory, gold, and laughs! Every character in the show below is played by a commenter (or lurker) from these pages. If you want in on the action (or just want to watch), email me at klemsonkrash@gmail.com!

Check out the show after the jump!

Damn! Ron Simmons to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Bio-ronsimmons_medium

John Bradshaw Layfield, eat your heart out.

One half of the APA will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year as Ron Simmons will be introduced as the next inductee into the hallowed halls, according to Whatculture. Simmons is recognized as the first African-American world heavyweight champion in professional wrestling. Simmons earned that right after he powerslammed Vader to the mat on August 2nd, 1992.

Simmons would hold on to the belt until December 30th of that year, where he lost the title to Vader. In addition to his reign as WCW world heavyweight kingpin, Simmons captured the WCW United States tag team strap with his partner Big Josh (known to most at the original Doink the Clown) and the WCW world tag team belt with Butch Reed.

After a brief stint with ECW, Simmons took over what was likely his most recognizable character of Faarooq. Initially a gladiator character, he would be written in as the leader of the notorious Nation of Domination, a stable that notably included D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Kama Mustafa (The Godfather), Ahmed Johnson, Owen Hart, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The Rock eventually usurped Faarooq as the leader of the group and Simmons was paired up with Bradshaw in a team managed by The Jackyl known as Hell's Henchmen. Once Jackyl left the WWE, the group joined The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness as The Acolytes. They would capture their first WWE tag team titles as part of this faction.

Precap for the Feb. 6th, 2012 episode of Raw

Bellasb_medium

An apology for my delay. Photo via WWE.com

There were some technical problems on my end, folks. The traditional introduction will be up in a separate post later this week. That is why you should always back up your work. So lets get right to the show.

Johny Ace! Trips! Taker! Control of Raw!

John Laurinaitis as all but fired on last week's Raw (Jan. 30). Since the infamous words did not leave Triple H's mouth, though, technically he gets to keep is job. Triple H vs. Undertaker at WrestlMania XXVIII (28) is all but an inevitability at this point. It will be interesting to see how they get to that point. Triple H claimed he actually broke Taker's streak during the Slammy awards' (Dec. 12, 2011) because The Dead Man was unable to walk under his own strength. The Undertaker comes back to rectify the situation to close Raw last week, but The Game just walked away from the challenge. If Triple H wants to be GM of Raw, he needs to separate personal problems and business. I am pretty sure that is not going to happen. Expect a lot of Triple H monologues being interrupted be blackouts and bells, and for John Laurinaitis to stay with us for a long, long time.

The Lion Of Nottingham: Pro Wrestling House Shows In The 21st Century

33583437878961025316959_medium

Which is more effective: someone telling you of something that IS going to happen or someone excitingly telling you about something that happened that YOU missed out on? The answer to the question is really based off who you ask. I believe the second is something pro wrestling needs more of and the first is something pro wrestling needs to avoid as often as possible, especially as it relates to a crucial yet often neglected aspect of the business: the house show.

Revival Pro Wrestling: The Revival lives on...

Revivalprologo_medium

Dear Revival Pro Wrestling (RPW) Faithful,

In light of Jon's announcement, KlemsonKrash and myself have decided to try to carry the torch for as long as the interest is there. Geno and Sergio would really like to see the promotion continue on Cageside and we are gonna try our best to make it happen.

The change of ownership brought a lot of work to be done, especially on the planning area and it made impossible to get this week's episode of Wednesday Night Revival on time. But it will air live next Wednesday at it's regularly scheduled time. There is no need for any roleplays (RPs) or anything else until after this coming Wednesday.

We are trying very hard so that storylines will keep on track and the work you have done building your characters will carry on. With two people running the federation, we should be able to keep the workload minimized and with YOUR help, we can keep this entertaining and something we can all enjoy.

We will have some changes at least for the immediate future, read more about them after the jump.

Fozzy...

The other day I wrote a fanpost entitled "The UFC vs. The FTC" which none of you read and less of you commented on. In that article I mentioned a writer at CBSSports.com who spoke of his own change of heart regarding the UFC. Now, the same writer who does a weekly article, at the same site, called Hate Mail.

After the break you can read where this includes Fozzy.

Royal Rumble 2012's Top Five MVPs

From Wikipedia: In sports, a Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is an honor typically bestowed upon the best performing player or players on a specific team, in an entire league, or for a particular contest or series of contests. Initially used in professional sports, the term is now also commonly used in amateur sports, as well as in other completely unrelated fields of endeavor such as business and music awards.

When it comes to pro-wrestling, i've decided to closely balance the kayfabed accomplishments of all the fictional characters involved in the Rumble with the accolades of their real-life performers, so this list is a mix-up of how everyone was booked and how everyone actually performed.

(Dis) Honorable Mentions:

The Miz - Entered #1 - Eliminated #25 by Big Show - Time in Match 45:40 - 2 Eliminations.

The Miz wasn't only the number one entrant this year at the rumble, he also managed to last longer than anyone else on the match, despite all of this he had absolutely no presence in this match beyond the first 7 minutes which is quite a big feat.

Big Show - Entered #30 - Eliminated #27 by Orton - Time in Match 01:52 - 4 Eliminations.

When Jericho came at #29 i was expecting something big for #30, big as in an Undertaker return a Brock Lesnar appearence or a glass shattering Stone Cold entrance. I did get something big, big as in "The World's Largest Athlete" and words cannot describe how much i hated it.

If this list was completely unbiased The Big Show would probably have made it as high as number 3, after all in less than 2 minutes he eliminated Miz, Rhodes and Ziggler who accounted for a combined 107 minutes of rumble time. Looks like he also eliminated Jack Swagger, who i don't remember being in the match at all.

Check out the list after the jump...

Hulk Hogan

Hogan has been busy the last few days. Last night, as with fellow WWE HOF and current talent for that poorly run outfit in mid-Florida Ric Flair, Hogan was a guest voice on The Cleveland Show. Like Flair, he was sporting an old WWF belt, Flair had the big Gold Belt he's been synonymous with his entire career. The Hulkster also gave several interviews and as previously reported here at CSS, he actually wrestled in London, England.

More of Hogan's tall tales after the break.
