In an effort to bring some positivity to professional wrestling—and the world for that matter—Cageside Seats and its community will say nice things about people and things in wrestling every single day throughout 2017.
A reminder of the rules: only positivity allowed here. No back-handed compliments, and CERTAINLY NO NEGATIVITY. If you don’t have something nice to say, keep it to yourself, or take it elsewhere. Negative comments will be deleted and you may be subjected to a ban. Cool? Cool.
Today’s subject: the longest reigning champion in NXT history (and soon to be the holder of an undefeated streak longer than Bill Goldberg’s), Asuka.
I’ll break the ice. I own exactly four wrestler shirts: one from cSs (the “I’m A Cageside Guy” one if you’re wondering), one from Kayfabe News, a Stone Cold Broken Skull Ranch shirt I got on sale through Pro Wrestling Tees, and Asuka (the gray “Tomorrow Brings Danger” one).
I think I’m on record saying that Asuka is my favorite female performer in the company. She’s magic in the ring. She comes off as playful and flirty and loves to have a good time... and then the bell rings, and she’s a cold-blooded assassin. She can suck the soul out of wrestlers and entire arenas (if you don’t believe the latter, I recommend you check out the end of the NXT Takeover: Dallas match against Bayley).
I know behind the scenes Asuka’s been quite the help in bringing along the future of the NXT (and eventually WWE) women’s division. But I certainly hope she gets a crack at the main roster, and not just on the occasional house show.
Ok, your turn. Say something nice about “The Empress of Tomorrow”.
And if you have a suggestion for a future “Let’s Say Nice Things About...”, hit me up on Twitter @notoriouseddie. I promise I won’t bite.
