In an effort to bring some positivity to professional wrestling—and the world for that matter—Cageside Seats and its community will say nice things about people and things in wrestling every single day throughout 2017.
A reminder of the rules: only positivity allowed here. No back-handed compliments, and CERTAINLY NO NEGATIVITY. If you don’t have something nice to say, keep it to yourself, or take it elsewhere. Negative comments will be deleted and you may be subjected to a ban. Cool? Cool.
Today’s subject: seeing that they’ve been in the news lately—quite a bit, actually, Matt and Jeff, the Hardy Boyz.
I’ll start by coming out with this little nugget: the Hardys are one of the greatest tag teams in the history of space and time. While I can’t remember anything they did tag-wise in TNA (other than Tag Team Apocalypto, Delete or Decay or THE GREAT WAR of 2016), their TLC and ladder matches are the stuff of legend in the WWE.
Singles-wise, the Hardys are the rare example of both members of a team being successful. Jeff had spectacular singles careers, winning world titles in both WWE and TNA multiple times, and was at one time one of the five most popular performers in all of wrestling. That’s not hyperbole. Matt’s done pretty well for himself too with his constant reinventions, most notably Matt Hardy Version 1, “I’m too rich for all this” Ring of Honor Matt Hardy, and Broken Matt Hardy, which is probably his magnum opus.
I’m skeptical it’ll happen, but I do hope the Hardys get one last run in WWE before calling it a career.
See? That was easy. Now you do that. Say something nice about the Hardys.
