Stay connected for news and updates

In this series, we look back on every Royal Rumble event to date. Up next: Royal Rumble 2003, featuring the continued domination of Brock Lesnar.

Event: Royal Rumble 2003
Date: January 19, 2003
Location: Fleet Center in Boston, Massachusetts
Time: 53:41
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Last Eliminated: Undertaker
Iron Man: Chris Jericho
Quickest Out: B-2
Most Eliminations: Chris Jericho/Undertaker

The year 2003 was one of transition for WWE, as the Attitude Era disappeared further and further into the rearview mirror and the charge into a new era began. The powers that be badly wanted the man leading that charge to be Brock Lesnar, which is why he was put over big here.

Brock was made to qualify earlier in the evening by defeating Big Show, then number 29 and tossed his perennial rival, Undertaker, to win it all. Perhaps a sign of pending doom, though, was the fact that the wrong music played once Brock won.

Just over one year later, Lesnar was out of the company.

This Rumble didn't feature anything too memorable, though there were some cool moments. Chris Jericho tricking Shawn Michaels by using Christian during his entrance at number two was a brilliant move. His later eliminating Christian himself was even better. John Cena came to the ring rapping. Eddie Guerrero was in it.

Yeah, there was plenty of good stuff here. Enjoy!
