Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said the big announcement Renee Young was teasing for WWE Backstage was supposed to be Brock Lesnar quitting SmackDown to move to Raw but that was changed because they had to re-write SmackDown due to the travel issues in Saudi Arabia.
- He also said none of the NXT stuff was previously planned for any point, and was instead written and done the day of the show.
- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes Natalya and Lacey Evans made the trip to Saudi Arabia not knowing if their match at Crown Jewel would get approved. Ultimately, it was.
- Jinder Mahal is expected back from a knee injury early next year, says the Observer.
- PW Insider notes TNT was only expecting 500,000 viewers for Dynamite, so they’re very happy with what AEW has delivered so far, even if numbers have fallen a bit from where they started.
