Domestic assault charges levied against WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler and his fiancee, Lauryn McBride, have been dropped, according to WMC News in Memphis.
The couple were arrested two weeks back following an alcohol-fueled argument at Lawler’s home which - though they disputed the details - both sides agreed got physical. A judge ordered them to stay away from each other pending the start of their formal court case. The next hearing was scheduled for today (July 1), but Shelby County Court documents indicate prosecutors decided to not proceed with the case and the court considers the matter closed.
WWE suspended Lawler under their no-tolerance policy toward domestic violence. The company has not commented or otherwise updated the employment status of the man who was a color commentator for SmackDown at the time of his arrest.
We’ll keep you posted on that, or any other details concerning the court’s decision to dismiss charges against Lawler and McBride, as more information becomes available.
