If you didn’t listen to the UFC 200 media conference call, you really should catch up on it here. Brock Lesnar was the star of the call, what with coming right out and saying he doesn’t care what Stephanie McMahon says about not supporting his return to MMA, among other things.
One of those other things was addressing the fact that, well, he doesn’t really think about how his fight with Mark Hunt may or may not affect his drawing power in WWE. Or, as he put it:
"I really don't give a shit. This isn't about my fans. This is about me living my life, being the person I want to be. Granted, without the fans and everything, none of us would be able to do this. I get that. But I don't sit up at night wondering, `Is my drawing power gonna be hurt' or 'Are my WWE fans gonna tune in and watch me do this.' I don't give two shits about that. This is about me. I want to get in there and be an athlete again. That's what this is about."
At this point in his career, with his bank account as big as it most certainly is, he likely doesn’t need to consider such things. He’s been a hot commodity for so long now, he can afford to make such comments without much concern for how his employers may react to them.
It helps that even this makes him marketable.
Then again, a devastating knockout loss very well could affect his drawing power, which may have been diminishing anyway, and that could, in turn, affect his future with WWE. We’ll have to wait for July 9 in Las Vegas to find out.
Not that he’ll care either way.
