My second foray into Lucha Libre was as awesome as I expected. This time, I attended with a Spanish speaking friend so I actually know what the chants meant. And, yes, they were problematic, vulgar, and hilarious. That being said it was an amazing time. My friend, who doesn't watch wrestling at all, had a blast and the crowd was even more diverse than expected. Lots of American Indie wrestling fans brought over by Lucha Underground.
Before I get to the pictures, I'd like to explain my process and state of mind when I shoot. For me, photography isn't about everything being crystal clear with perfect lighting. It's all about capturing the moment. I want you to feel the chaotic nature of a match and grit of the environment. Hopefully this was achieved with the shots and post-edits.
Enjoy.
