Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- The Observer notes that SummerSlam likely looks like this but, of course, things could change over the coming weeks: Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins vs. John Cena, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose & Sting vs. The Wyatt Family, Ryback vs. Big Show, Prime Time Players vs. New Day, Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens, Team Bella vs. Powerbuff Girls vs. Team B.A.D., and maybe Dolph Zigger vs. Rusev.
- The plan for NXT the night before SummerSlam at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn is to run a live event that will go for just under four hours. That includes dark matches, an hour long TV taping, and the live Takeover event.
- For that matter, they are likely going to add a couple more matches to the show beyond the four that have been made clear by recent tapings.
- The Wrestling Observer is reporting that indie talents are being steered away from signing with Ring of Honor by WWE, who have also apparently started contacting arenas about not booking ROH in exchange for the promotion running shows there.
- According to PW Insider, the reason Bully Ray didn't work NXT shows back in May is because he had an ear injury and he alerted WWE to it and decided against doing the show. That's as opposed to stories that WWE didn't use him because he had worked as a referee for TNA before then.
